Like Nails On A Chalkboard!

The PRU Crew went through the usual exercise of reviewing and taking notes on each of the videos so graciously provided by the truly volunteer efforts of Charles Melidosian and George Kirkland.

Consideration was given to which lowlights should be noted in the index for each video and PRU.ADMIN was prepared to do the usual write up.

But sometimes we wonder why we bother. All of the lowlights are really just more of the same idiocy, pandering, ignorance and rank stupidity we've witnessed and reported to PRU readers for more than two years now.

These guys do not get it. They never have and they probably never will.

The first ward's Ald. Sweiner is too new and unfamiliar with Council history and procedure to make any real impact on any of the discussions.

The second ward's Lord of the Manor too often has to provide mini-courses on Council history and proper procedure to people who've occupied those chairs long enough they should already know. And his all too frequently mild-mannered approach comes off as equivocating.

The third ward's Constitutional UNscholar is such a moron we don't know where to begin to address all he lacks. The voters of the third ward should be ashamed this man represents them.

The fourth ward's Ald. Allspaghetti brains is nothing more than a greasy dealer for special interests and another embarrassment beyond words.

The fifth ward's Benedict Ald. Ryan is so vacuous we figure the wind whistling through his ears creates a breezy chill which must be the cause for Economic Development Dir. Kim Uhlig's persistently crossed arms during each meeting -- as if she's trying to warm herself while sitting for hours next to a human wind tunnel.

The sixth ward's Unfriendly Ghost leaves the impression that at any moment whatever unseen leash is holding him back will break and he'll maul the closest person he can get his jaws clenched upon. He is of a "breed" which should be banned! At least from ever warming a Council seat ever again!

The seventh ward's ultimate panderer, Ald. assWsol, is so fundamentally dishonest and unprincipled we aren't surprised his face seems plastered with a permanent smirk.

Finally Mayor Schmidtzkrieg, whose heart may be in the right place but whose head is too often half empty or preoccupied with a desire to have people like him, really like him!, functions at a level barely beyond the functionally illiterate on budgetary issues. We know and understand that learning the language of -- let alone becoming comfortable with -- municipal accounting and budgets can be intimidating, but after two years as an Alderman and approaching one year as the Mayor, our patience is threadbare.

And none of these guys get it. And they don't have to as long as the same small handful of residents are the only ones who consistently show up to meetings and ask questions and demand these morons do something which might resemble their representative jobs.

Below are the embedded videos. Go ahead and watch another installment of the same stupid bullshit, if your stomach can hack it. Because until the taxpayers, residents and voters in this town start paying some serious attention to the city budget and demanding these guys stop behaving like morons, nothing is going to change.

In The Meantime --

While the Crew waits for Cecil B. deMelidosian's videos to fully load, we urge our faithful PRU readers to click on over to the Pub-dog's post today. We think it's well worth your time and consideration.

A Pot Luck Of Pursuits!

#1 -- Point and Counter-point?

Not exactly.

For our faithful PRU readers interested in the budget issues facing District 207, we strongly encourage you to read this (.pdf) -- it is titled 'Cost Reduction Recommendation Jan. 11, 2010' and is a report to the District 207 Board on the financial review undertaken by the district's administration.

To those espousing the opinion the District 207 Board should draw down the current fund balance, instead of making cuts, we will be more than pleased to provide a link or publish an equally analytical and considered report -- because this isn't cutting it.

And to those educators encouraging the participation of students in the public discourse on this topic, and we know you are -- while individual efforts vary, so far we would give your charges a collective grade of "C." Somewhat disorganized marching, chanting, sign-carrying and petitioning may garner media attention and be exciting to view on the local news, but those efforts do little to add any measure of real excellence and substance to the debate. Such activities, while intrinsically of value in the process of exercising rights in a democracy, are really pretty run-of-the-mill efforts.

We don't have any excellent ideas for you as to what your "A" game may look like in the debate, but then again, the Crew isn't being paid while attempting to provide information and education -- we use the term loosely -- to anyone in our community. And we guaranty everyone, there is no guaranteed pension plan for curmudgeonly bloggers, much to the Crews' disappointment.

#2 -- Preliminary Points to Ponder!

For those of you interested in the flooding issue, you may want to attend the 6:30 p.m. joint City Council Workshop/Flood Control Task Force meeting this evening at City Hall. And if you're truly an ambitious citizen, you can prepare for the meeting by reading the Flood Control Task Force Memo & Summary (.pdf) in advance! The Council will be dedicating a whole half hour to this workshop!

#3 -- Putting Their Pointy Heads Together!

Also scheduled for this evening, a whole half hour after the joint workshop, is another exciting COW meeting with emphasis on Finance & Budget and Procedures & Regulations. The agenda (.pdf) may appear to be light, but some of the subject matter is fairly weighty, given the City's current financial condition.

#4 -- Point of No Return?

Forwarded from a PRU reader --

"From Crain's:

Foreclosure suit hits Park Ridge building

Chicago-based New Century Bank has filed a foreclosure suit seeking to recover $1.57 million on a 63,000-square-foot office building at 444 N. Northwest Parkway in northwest suburban Park Ridge. The property, known as Colonial Plaza Office Center, is owned by a venture controlled by John M. Heinz, whose real estate firm Heinz Group Inc. is located in the building. The Heinz venture defaulted on the loan in December 2008 when it failed to make a payment, according to the complaint filed Dec. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court. Mr. Heinz did not return a call. The three-story building is fully leased, and the largest tenant is Rainbow Hospice, according to data provider CoStar Group Inc. The court-appointed receiver, Daniel J. Hyman of Millennium Properties R/E Inc., declines to comment. The bank’s lawyer in the case, Thomas J. Dillon of law firm McFadden & Dillon, also declines to comment."

Who Will Get Left Out In The Rain?

The information listed at the bottom of this post is from Championnews.net. The PRU Crew was very surprised, though we probably should not have been, to see these 2008 numbers -- we chose to sort the salary list according to salary level. However, if you visit the ChampionNews site, you can sort the results by name.

We've been told the salary numbers represent total compensation. Still, the compensation levels are somewhat startling, and we note these compensation levels come with guaranteed pension benefits for the rest of these people's natural lives. That's a pretty good deal and probably the reason why teachers such as Ms. Sandra Deines can retire well before the age of 65 and have time to plan theatrical demonstrations at public meetings, according to what we read in
today's Herald-Advocate.

According to the Advocate article, "Sandra Deines, a former District 207 teacher and current Park Ridge resident, urged the board to tap the reserve fund, which she said was meant for a rainy day. "The people who that money belongs to are the people in this auditorium," she said."It's raining."

Surely Ms. Deines was talking about all the regular non-teacher taxpayers in attendance, right?
The PRU Crew must say it does appear to be raining, because it also appears Ms. Deines is all wet.

We also read that one teacher, "Mike Bender, a special-education teacher and softball coach whose job is scheduled to be cut, was a noted exception. Instead of asking the board to tap the reserves, Bender asked his union to return to the bargaining table. "I ask our union leadership to work this out with the board," he said. Union members in the crowd scoffed."..."Bender, who has been only teaching for three years, said tenured teachers who voted "no" the first time should take a good long look at what their colleagues who are preparing to lose jobs are going through."

Jeeze, it sure sounds as if a fellow non-tenured teacher is asking his fellow tenured teachers to share the protection offered by the "protective umbrella" of tenure!

Jeeze, does anybody else feel maybe the teacher's union membership should "take a good long look" at who will get left out in the rain? How about if just the top 265 educators making $100,000 or more in compensation "take a good long look" in the mirror?

Freewheeling PRU Briefs!

item #1 -- "The only thing experience teaches us is that experience teaches us nothing." -- André Maurois

You don't have to have a kid in one of Maine Township District 207's high schools to have a legitimate interest in the budget cuts being considered by the District 207 School Board. So we strongly urge everyone who's got the time to show up to the public meeting set to take place tonight in the Maine East school auditorium, beginning at 7 p.m.

And to the teacher's union we offer the frequently used, WTF???

item #2 -- "Insisting on perfect safety is for people who don't have the balls to live in the real world." -- Mary Shafer

The PRU Crew still hates red light cameras. We feel they're a fraudulent public offering on the issue of traffic safety -- nothing more than revenue-generating ventures for cash-sucking municipal governments. And as soon as Commonwealth Edison gets around to turning on the power for the new red light camera at Oakton and Northwest Hwy., we'll all begin to hear that old familiar sucking sound, but we're sure the ball-less will feel perfectly safe.

item #3 -- "The treatment process does reduce the liklihood of recidivism." -- Dr. Jesus Padilla

In today's Journal & Topics on page 3A we had the displeasure of reading a small article titled, "Ald. Allegretti Refutes Story, Will Run Again"

In the article 4th ward Ald. Jim Allspaghetti denies being unhappy in his role as an alderdunce and claims he will seek re-election in 2011.

In other words, Ald. Allspaghetti promises to be a repeat offender. The PRU Crew feels the appropriate treatment process is for voters to have the opportunity to elect somebody else and send Allspaghetti back under the rock from which he crawled.

item #4 -- "You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. You can tell whether a man is wise by his questions." -- Naguib Mahfouz

The Pub-dogs post today asks "the following question for Messrs. Ryan and Wsol: Why did you vote to make the City the appllicant for the zoning ordinance amendments to permit billboards, especially where doing so allowed GGI to avoid the disclosure requirements of the City’s ethics ordinance that are designed to combat kinky deals?"

If the Pub-dogs get any answers at all, we expect they will be very clever answers.
