City Council Meeting 4-19-2010 -- video!

*Note* -- somebody on City staff learned a new trick! -- how to embed videos on the City's web site! Woohoo! Way to join the cyber age, people!

No indexing today -- we think you can work your way through the video at your leisure.

The one editorial comment we will offer is a lot of people sure are full of shit when it comes to claiming to be free market capitalists and--or fiscal conservatives.

When staff learns captioning and captions agenda item starts into the video, then we'll know they've got feet firmly planted in the cyber age.

I'm sorry but how stupid can one be?

When someone tells you there's a fire you don't disbelive it.

Geesh.

The V show crowd are a fun crowd. Let's hope they decide to hold their script writing parties and cast parties at the new tavern so it will stay in business unlike Uncle Dans. I don't get how a 2am tavern relates to the family character of Park Ridge but all these friends of the owner and the V show crowd seem to understand something I don't. More power to them. The drop in the bucket this will bring in new business taxes is a red herring but what the hell. It will be fun to have a new place in town to go and have a drink. Who knows it might even bring more businesses to that area. Probably more 2am taverns but what the hell. People will be spending their money at local taverns.

Anonymous @ 9:59,

At least the Park Ridge liquor code won't make liars out of Park Ridge residents (and others) any longer...

...in some small way, I suppose [that] could be considered "progress"...

An acquaintance of mine once said about those of a certain religion: "They drink, but it's always out behind the woodshed."

The days of pretending we live in a quaint New England town with rock-ribbed traditional morals and values are behind us. Our friends and neighbors are happy to go a quarter mile from the Park Ridge city limits and hoist a few over in Edison Park. What difference does it make if they go in the other direction and drink in Uptown?

Not everyone goes to EP. Some of us head in the other direction. I'd tell you where that is but it's crowded enough already.

Why are our politicians settling for two-bit, late-hour bars when all those big-time retailers - like Barnes & Noble, Borders, Whole Foods, The Gap, Crate & Barrel - are pounding down the door to City Hall trying to get a site in Park Ridge?

And isn't Trader Joe's bringing in millions in sales tax? How about the same for Houlihan's and Jason's Deli? Amphora should be good for a new fire truck's worth of sales tax all by itself, right?

I presume you mean Countryside and other lounges to the north and west. Or perhaps the VFW? Hooter's? Outback?

Looks like we're surrounded.

Thanks for the laugh. If we didn't laugh we'd have to cry.
