Your comment seems apropos of nothing -- care to explain?

What ever happened to allocating bank controlled PR housing to inner city families?

What about bussing in poverty level hispanics from Des Plaines so that our children can learn to deal with people from other cultures?

Why can't we have a vuvuzela's at the Hawks futbol games?

DIVERSITY INITIATIVE - just another politicians promise, down the tubes.

My thanks goes to Alderman DiPietro. Finally the city is going to get around to asking us lowly residents what WE think about the airport!

LOL 5:06, It has only taken 20 yrs., it is about time, don't you think?

Yes I think it is about time.

I agree with trying to get Chicago to do more but the money this town has wasted on lawyers is ridiculous.

So 20K in services to TOPR is an outrage but knowone has a problem with the no bid contract policy????????????

We think you have this blog confused with that other blog. We've never expressed outrage at the support donated by the City to the Taste.

We've stated our disgust at the failure of our elected officials, particularly Mayor "Transparency" Schmidt, to demand disclosure of the form 990s from those receiving funds directly and indirectly via support services from taxpayers. And we've said we suspect that Taste, Inc. may be inuring benefits to insiders, which we have also said we believe is illegal.

As for the City's no-bid policy -- we've seen the practice work well and to the City's financial advantage in the past. We've also seen when going to bid has worked well and to the City's financial advantage.

To some degree, we don't believe every City expenditure -- even beyond the $20,000 bid threshold -- must be put out to bid, even though our predominant preference is for the bidding of contracts.

Specifically on the issue of the phone service contract for the City, we have no objections to Ms. Nelson's management of this issue, while at the same time we have no objections to Aldermen Wsol, Bach and Carey believing a bid process may serve the City well. We truly believe both sides of the issue have done a good job of supporting their respective positions.

...talk about absurd...yesterday, after listening to the audio of the meeting, I vented to a friend...

Bach has got to be THE DUMBEST doofus there is...his even suggesting that the clowncil provide the O'hare commission with money to spend in relation to a referendum is stone-cold stupid....and this dolt has designs on becoming our next mayor? Lord in heaven, help us!

Even JJ from the H-A was bright enough to catch-on to that nincompoopery...and got on it for an article...

Why not a word was said DURING the clowncil meeting...AHEM! Mr. City Attorney!...will remain a mystery...

Great job PRU, I really like reading your breakdown of the meetings. To other posters who continuously get fed up.....alderman elections are coming up soon. Why not run? Get some fresh blood in our city. We need more new ideas. I for one plan on running in my district next year. I hope others plan on doing the same.

I think nobody seems to understand is northwest municipal conference already did the bid process so why spent more money to do the same thing!

On the contrary, we do understand that, which is why we have no objections to how Ms. Nelson has chosen to manage this issue.
