Speaking of Driving...

visualparadox.com

We think that we shall never see
The lovely Park Ridge money tree.
It must exist, we truly feel
Or why give Napleton a deal?

Yes, dear readers, we're sad to say
But another deal is on the way.
It's in the works at City Hall
Where "Friends of Frimark" often call.

A story in the press last week
Gave to us all a little peek,
Of what is up and soon may come
To Howard Frimark's good ol' chum.

We invite you now to go see
And read the plans for your money.
About Napleton Cadillac,
The Pub-dogs ain't just talkin' smack.

Does anyone know just how many dealerships Napelton owns? Why not stand out at the street corner and start handing out cash.

The only non property tax revenue that is worth anything in Park Ridge is automobile taxes.

Howard, how many baby ruth candy bars do we have to sell to make up for the sales tax?

What is the Mayors gain? Is it the sunny beaches in Florida or is it the golf outings that he attends?

Howard and his merry seven should get a toupe with a brain net.

Government giving away money to private entity is a joke!

Napelton made a lot of money in this town and will make money on the sale of their property! Why not just post an add to lure more businesses, “100% profit in Park Ridge!”

How about using the funds to hire additional crossing guards for our school children? Or, what about subsidizing the paid bus program to eliminate the horrendous traffic caused by parents dropping off and picking up their children that do not live South of Devon?

What about fixing our broken pool facilities? Maybe if we maintained and kept up the current facilities the park district would not have seen a decline in residents enjoying the Oakton pools.

The decline in our current infrastructure is due to the mis-management of the current city manager and the elected officials that stood by and allowed him to do it. Our streets were in much better shape during the Marty Butler Era. So are we again going to follow Tim Shuenke’s reccommendations to give money away to private entity instead of taking care of our town? Wake up Howard and friends!

A Napleton automobile dealer is waiting to serve you."

Now why is it only Park Ridge is "investing" in the American automobile industry? Napleton himself talked about the status of domestic makers before the Finance committee. Why is the city giving away tax dollars to keep a sinking ship afloat?

Now if we were enticing a Mercedes (post-Chrysler), Honda, Lexus, BMW, Acura etc dealership to come to town, that would be one thing. But ol' Bill Napleton has already signed agreements to keep his dealerships in Park Ridge. So the sales tax sharing is simply a gift.

and what happens if the business tanks? Does Napleton have to repay any of these gifts? How 'bout securing the first million or so with a lien on the property? If he pulls out before say 5 years, he has to give it all back, guaranteed by an interest in his land?

And the "environmental" gift is another giveaway to BOTH Napleton and PRC. Neither will have to pay to clean up the mess Napleton made. In the free market, Napleton could 1) clean up the property and demand a higher price or 2) leave it dirty and expect a lower price. But when "I'll-donate-to-your-campaign-if-you-return-the-favor" politics taints local governement, the free market cannot operate and neither the current owner nor the new owner have to pay anything for the clean up. And that is wrong.

How many calls has Howard made to convince Alderman Bach that he should go along with this?

DONT GIVE AWAY REVENUE!
IT IS ONE OF THE FEW WAYS TO KEEP OUR PROPERTY TAXES FROM GOING THROUGH THE ROOF!

Hey, it looks like Napleton has five dealerships in Florida, and Howard has a home in Florida. Does Howard get a complimentary
"loaner" from one of Napleton's convenient locations when he's down there?

are they the ones who took over the dealership on Greenwood/Busse? That place looks HIDEOUS. I thought it was abandoned!

The appearance of the dealership is nothihg that YOUR tax dollars can't fix!

Thank you PRU for the link.

$2,000,000.00 is a lot of money for Esau to have not mentioned in the Journal article. What a tool that guy is.

$2,000,000.00 at the end of 15 years is a little over $100,000.00 per year. What could we buy for Park Ridge with that money? What does it cost to pave a street? How much for a relief sewer? Crossing guards? Sidewalk repairs? Fixing the air quality problems at the Public Works building?

Oh wait...that's right...Napleton needs to re-decorate their new car showroom...

Hey bean!

If the city was to do any of that they would actually have to work! They don't want to have to do any actual work. It might take planning and budgeting and then man power to fix our streets, alleys and sewers. Who in our local city government really wants to take on work?

Where has pride of ownership gone to, and the entreprenurial spirit?

When I was growing up a businessman would have been ashamed to take a government handout.

What is the linkup between Napelton and Howard? Is Howard insuring cars now?

Anonymous said...

I knew that people in city council sold car insurance, but I didn't think they sold cars also.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Look up the industry standards. A bad dealership makes about 20 million a year. Napelton with multiple dealerships makes about how much a year? And we are going to give them money?

Everybody wants a handout these days, even or especially those (like Napleton) who don't need one. I don't hold out much hope for the other 5, but where are Schmidt and Wsol? With the last giveaway on Executive Office Plaza, at least we felt like we had somebody on the council representing us - even if they weren't OUR own aldermen.

I'm hoping that Gov B gets us seniors our free rides, then we won't need all our cars and will have extra money to support others in the next election. Oh, and less business for Napelton perhaps?

I'm here Hoover. Just been out of town. I'll have plenty to say about the Napleton "giveaway." -Schmidtzkrieg

I'm afraid the horses are out of the barn on the Napelton deal.

Super secret mtgs held at the caddy place locked it all in sometime ago.

As for the higher taxes here and what we can all do about it - thank the those who governed here way back in not wanting industry, hotels, higgins corridor ( both sides ) and more.

But now we can thank Gov. Blago - for a free ride on the CTA when we get that old.

In the meantime - enjoy those tax bills folks !!!

Oh - as for the allegretti family - they are nice people.

Give them a brake!

it's time to start a boycott of the Napleton dealership in PR.
