Have A Very Merry Christmas!

He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.

Thanks for another year of genuine journalism, all wrapped up in frisky, entertaining, acerbic wit.
You are one in a million -- or at least one in 37,000+.
Happy new year, dear PRUdence.
A grateful resident/citizen/denizen of Park Ridge

Don't know how long many of you have live here but years ago, at least up untill the 1980's, Either the city or the South Park Mercant use to hang these large candy canes on the street lights on Devon Ave.

Wonder whyn they don't do that anymore?

It was probably a money issue.

Have a Merry Christmas!

MIKE --

City Hall won't be holding any public meetings until Jan. 5th of the new year.

Enjoy the respite.

We fully intend to.

This year can't end too soon. These alderman can't be gone too soon.

4:41,

Careful what you wish for!!

Speaking of wishes. Did anyone see the article about the little girl who had cancer and the Make A Wish foundation in the paper?

When Mayor Dave and his minions get their wish Analise's Run will have to pay the City for their event instead of giving all the proceeds to Make A Wish to use for something nice for sick children and their families.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Mayor Dave hates sick kids. If they're not healthy then to hell with them. I hear he has a strong dislike for three-legged dogs as well. Damn freeloaders, expecting us to be all "boo-hoo" over them hopping around.

Anonymous said...

I have said it before, but if they make these changes the Mayor should be required to present a bill to the organizers of Analise's run at a council meeting. They should publish the date in advance on the "fancy" new web site. We could have his neato camera video tape it and put it on the web.

We feel the same City Hall ceremony should be afforded our veterans -- after all, parades cost money. We wouldn't want the Mayor to miss the opportunity for that photo op.

It will be the saddest day if the city bills the vets for a parade or a charity run for Make A Wish. I don't want to believe the new alderman will go along with it. I guess we will see.

Anonymous @ 10:36,

...heh...it'll be terrific watching (which?) "yes-man___" does the job of carrying Mayor DipSchmidt's (et.al.) water...

Aside from giving each and every charitable effort the Scrooge treatment...without asking for the supposedly desired information, first...

...much like Chicago, we might expect a single "bidder" for Taste of Park Ridge...

...and I can hardly wait for the twist and turns to come in arguing FOR a government subsidized, "monument to entrepreneurial capitalism," development along the Higgins corridor. I wonder what sort of "transparency" will accompany that effort...

Pull up a seat and ready the popcorn!

Hey Bean,

....isn't subsidized/entrepreneurial capitalism an oxymoron?!?!?

Bean said...

Anonymous @ 1:04,

"Exactamundo and correcto," as Mayor DipSchmidt has been known to say...

Anonymous said...

I agree with 10:36. There are some things more important than money.

Schmidt does not understand how economics works like most tea bagger idiots.

Schmidt's a schmidiot. The aldermonkeys are worse. We;'re doomed.

Fear not Park Ridge. The Teapublicans will save you. Stay classy!

That article was thought provoking.

I liked this quote "BMWs and Mercedes might give the economy luster, but Fords and Chevys make it hum."

Amen.

"subsidized capitalism" is no oxymoron. Just plain moron. It's every monster tax dodging giveaway to non-EPA-conforming oil companies, non-performing military materiel companies, non-FDA-conforming food and pharmaceutical companies.....

The biggest example of socialism 'round these parts is the giveaway fest to the mega-monied. Blame the gays, blame the illegal immigrants, blame the hispanics, blame the blacks, blame the uppity womenfolk, blame the kids who want to make enough money to move out of the house before they hit menopause -- but don't blame the real recipients of America's biggest welfare state. Everybody else from the upper middle class on down, you get to enjoy the rigors of actual dog-eat-dogville.
