I thought I'd bring up other things relating to PR as well as the flooding issues.

Anyway, Not long ago I was at the library and was on one of their computers and noticed a sign saying something like to be careful so you don't spill your drink.

My question, why the hell are they even permitting this?

I emailed then and got this response from Ms. Van De Carr.

Peoples needs and interests changes over time. People now want to have something to drink where ever they go.

Well I'm sure people a long time ago thought the same way and most librarians would of probably said no to avoid the risk of spilling stuff so why change it now?

Now maybe I'm beginnig to have too much time on my hands but what's next.
Food? And then we'll find garbage lying everywhere.

I am glad that I can bring a cup of Starbucks into the library.

I would also say that in light of what is went on over the weekend and over the last year in Park Ridge, yes, you have way to much freakin' time on your hands.

Thank you for allowing me this time to comment on the fight between the Boardwalk and Park Lane crew over this latest flooding.

First and foremost why can't they work together when the going gets tough?

Why did they ( PL ) refuse access in and out of their front site ?

All they had to do was call the fire dept - get them to declare an emergency and they can do whatever it takes to save lives.

People first........property second.

I guess when the going gets tough...some get going....and maybe should keep going!!

Work together people!

Anon 8:52 -

No kidding! That idiot is worried about ruining the freakin grass? Get over it and help your neighbors! He is an ass.

Ya know I read those letters in the paper yesterday and was just amazed. Seems to me there was come CYA going on there.

I will tell you that in my neighborhood it was amazing how people of all ages pitched in to help those in need - pushing stranded cars, last minute gutter cleaning, sand baging, pumps, lending cars. Just like in the power outage people dropped whatever they were doing and did all they could to help others.

To those at Boardwalk and PL I would challange you to behave like human beings!

Just wondering if the Wall Street bail out will include furnaces and hot water heaters. Probably not, huh?

Is anyone else a little surprised at what some people throw away? I'm sure I don't understand what is exactly wrong with some of the things I've seen sitting out. I haven't gone and inspected anyone's garbage, but a few items I've seen out on the curbs looke salvagable. I've refinished plenty of wood furniture in my day and it isn't that difficult to do.

A possible change of events...

We understand that the Democratic machine is planning an end run...
yeah....very soon and you are hearing it here....Joe Biden will pullout due to health reasons...and give Hillary...the nod!

Watch and see..........

Anyone out there think that they
( ? ) kept the deep tunnel closed until - ready - then once opened the system here in town - all drained down?

Not an expert on the subject but it has been my understanding that these systems (lifting stations, flood water diversions etc.) are automated not manual. I think what people saw as the "draining" of PR was more due to the fact that the system finally caught up with all the water. I don't think PR has a valve somewhere that dumps into the deep tunnel but someone forgot to open it. I could be wrong but it just doesn't seem logical that the communities basements would hinge on some operator. Just my opinion. Facts from an authoritative source would be interesting.

Just got back from the Farmers Market. Funny how knowone was at the "listening post". I wonder if Howard et al are hidding under their desks.

I think the folks in Mayfied are owed and explanatin as to why the flooded. Why there appears to be a sewer at the base of the wall, south side, that needs to be pumped to avoid flooding? I have seen this being pumped in past rains but not this time.

Anonymous September 19, 2008 2:55 PM,

So what if the Democrats do that? Makes no difference to me.

I wasn't a likely McCain voter, but I wasn't all that certain I'd be voting for Obama either, since I'm very pissed off about Obama's position on the FISA bill and did have deep reservations about his lack of experience. Now though, I'm definitely not a McCain voter since he's chosen Palin for a running mate.

My first reason is that I cannot believe that a military man like McCain would choose such an incredible novice for a running mate while this country is engaged in war. All of McCain's own experience should have told him to choose someone who would have their own experience to step into the position of commander in chief, should that become necessary, or someone who would bring added value to his administration in an advisory role. Palin might be able to shoot a moose and process the meat into burgers, but that doesn't give her any of the experience necessary for making decisions as commander in chief, and as the Tina Fey rendition in the Saturday Night Live skit exposed, being able to see Russia from your house doesn't give you any insights into foreign policy and military leadership either.

My second reason is that I cannot imagine a policy where women are forced to endure the pregnancy and bear the children of their rapists. That's an extreme position even within the rightest of the right wing of the Republican party. What I find really remarkable about that is the men who say they find Palin sexy or hot or appealing. Really guys? You do? Tell me, how sexy, hot and appealing would you find Palin if she came to you personally and said that your wife, girlfriend, or daughter had to endure pregnancy and give birth to a rapists baby? Because guys, that is exactly what Palin is telling you. But hey, you'd only have to be reminded of what happened to your wife, girlfriend or daughter for only nine months while you watched her belly grow with the product of the rape, not to say anything of what your wife, girlfriend or daughter would be living through. You'd be willing to put up with that, right guys? Hot, sexy, appealing Sarahcuda says that's the way to go. And you wouldn't then force your wife, girlfriend, or daughter to automatically give that baby up for adoption, would you? You know, if the ultimate in hot, sexy appealing womanhood is motherhood, then shouldn't victims of rape prove what hot, sexy, appealing strong women they are by keeping their rapist's baby?

Now let's talk about father's rights...you know, visitation and things like that? What rights does a rapist have when it comes to fatherhood?

Oh yea, hot, sexy, appealing Palin has this whole womanhood, motherhood, fatherhood thing down.

Anybody who thinks that somehow if Biden drops out and Hillary Clinton is then selected for the VP spot on the Democrat's ticket that this will be some sort of end run to undermine the Republican ticket and the appeal Palin has to women is a fool. The women to whom Palin appeals are idiots on both the left and the right, who fail to recognize that the only thing Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin share in common is the general design of their anatomy.

Dear anonymous

Do you know what % of abortions are from rapes?
Less than 1% ?

Anonymous said...

pain,

Yes, that's right, 1%. If you believe any of the numbers reported then that is around 14,000 abortions a year as a result of a rape. Are you willing to tell those 14,000 women and their families "too bad for you", like Sarahcuda says?

By the way, the big issue in town right now is a shelter for the homeless. Are you aware that the homeless population in the US is "only" 1% of the entire population? I guess since it's only 1%, we don't have to worry about them. The numbers just aren't high enough to be concerned about.

You poor, poor, woman.

The contempt in your letters is more than most can bear. Although I am conservative in most of my views, I believe abortion should be a womans' right. Having our government tell us what we can do with our bodies is insane, a woman should have a right to do what she wants in regards to having a baby,.... you make a decision, you live with it, nuff said.
But you are so ill educated, as everyone knows, the federal government can't outlaw abortions, ultimately states make those decisions. So when McCain/Palin take over in January, take it up with Springfield. Your juvenile name calling is just that...juvenile. I would guess you long for children yourself, as reading your biting diatribes, you are angry because you have yet to find a partner to mate with. You need to lighten up, you'll never get a man,(or a woman )with your crazazy attitude.

Anonymous said...

omg wtf,

Crazazy is a good word. It describes you perfectly. You completely missed the point of everything I have said, or you can't bring yourself to deal with it and you would rather attack me with your fantasized ideas about me.

Either way, any pity should go your way since you are the one who is uneducated and your fantasy about my condition in life is so far off I'm laughing.

Honestly, you're really a trip but I would rather hear from people who aren't going to avoid the real issues and would like to answer the issues I have raised.

Our country is at war and McCain chose somebody so unprepared should she have to take over that it truly frightens me, not just for our country but for McCain's own mind. What could he be thinking with this choice???

How could any reasonable person think that forcing a woman to endure a pregnancy and birth as a result of rape is even close to reasonable???

omg wtf, if you would like to talk about those things instead of your crazazy and wrong ideas about me, I think that would be interesting.

This is getting fun ! Talking to you is like talking to one of my kids.....I want to talk about ABORTION !!!! No wait, sorry, I want to talk about war ! Ummm wait, on second thought, let's go with experience,..... no I fu@#%$ing meant PADS,....shit I don't know what I meant, and now all the liquor stores are closed !!!!

You're a stitch !!! You don't
even know who you're mad at....

ParkRidgeUnderground said...

om wtf --

We actually think you're the stitch who is all over the place. We thought Anon@5:53 raised some interesting issues about the Palin choice. Why don't you pick just one of those issues, if both of those issues are too much for you to handle all at once.

Anonymous said...

PRU,

Thank you for the nod in my direction.

It looks like I will have to wait until tomorrow for anyone who might want to talk about the things I have talked about here.

Get some sleep omg wtf. It seems like you could use it.

Anonymous said...

PRU-

You're kidding, right ? I answered the the abortion question the first time,.... I don't think abortion is right, but it is just that..., a right. A woman should have a right to choose...have a baby, don't have a baby, your choice.

But we go from abortion, to war, to experience, to sexy Sarah, to name calling, to PADS,... I have both hands on the wheel, does anonymous ?

ParkRidgeUnderground said...

Anon@12:05 --

No kidding here. The whole crew has been watching this exchange and if we were awarding points for debate, you'd lose.

Tsk, tsk, tsk...... go kiss anonymous good night, and tell her she weally, weally, is the smart one here, not that nasty, MR. Crazazy wtf !!!

Here's the deal, we'll give Anon a kiss good night and do the other things you suggest, as long as you promise to lay off the sauce next time you post a comment here.

PRU-

That's so cute, and all this time I thought you were just a meeting place for objective opinion.

Very dissapointed, maybe you can re-read your posts in the morning,.... I'll watch for you apology.

Say n'igh-night to anonymous, and reassure her it's me , not her.

ParkRidgeUnderground said...

omg wtf --

Don't waste your time watching for any apology from us. But we will admit to feeling embarrassed for you.

5. Howie's - law and disorder.

6. Parachutes

7. Taxes

Keep it all up - it makes reading time.

Thank you.

omg wtf:

With regards to states handling the decision on abortion, what happens if the Supreme Court over turns Roe v. Wade?

Anonymous said...

Good morning. I hope anon is sleeping-IT-off.

Anyway, back to the McCain/Palin comments. I thought anon 9-19, 2:55pm was right on target.

Here’s a theory of why Palin is on the ticket: she’s expendable. The R party doesn’t want to waste any real winners in THIS election. McCain didn’t choose her – it was a last ditch effort by party strategists. The R Party is saving-up it’s brilliant options for the next election and using Palin as a throw away. I think the basic strategy is called “throw it against the wall to see what sticks”.

Anon at 9-19at2:55. I’m interested in your insights on the FISA bill, please elaborate. Thanks.
