That's right, we're still on it!
We've told PRU readers about the discussions taking place to install Red Light Cameras at "dangerous" intersections; all one of them.
We've discussed the issue here, here, here, here, here, and here.
In today's edition of the Herald-Advocate, we read City may add cameras at RR depots.
It sure looks to us as if the City is willing to install cameras almost everywhere!
Except here of course, as we again discussed here....because you know, it's not as if anything is going on here or there that is a threat to our blessings of liberty.
City officials are willing to discuss turning cameras on the citizens in public spaces, under the auspices of security and safety. So why aren't they willing to return the favor by turning those cameras on themselves?

I read that article this morning and I had the EXACT SAME thoughts as you.
Clever PRU... Don't publish the usual council recap report...let the H-A cover things in their usually worthless way...then rehash the red light camera business and tie it into a reminder about the city declining to broadcast council meetings...
A clever attempt to repeat your points on the camera issue...and your agenda for broadcasting council meetings...
...or did you think the forest would go unnoticed...?
;)
Busted.
They MENTION putting cameras in council chambers in the article. I don't think PRU made that up.
Perhaps they could hold the city meetings at the train station, or on the tracks. This would kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. Just a thought.
The politicians don't want to be watched doing what they do. They don't want people to see how dumb they are, like that idiot Bach. A friend of mine was at the council meeting and told me that Bach wanted to first pay the Ekl fees then ask for a refund! That didn't get reported in the paper today.
Suggestion...go look into who lobbies for the red light company. It will be illuminating.
like...they are going to get a PROFIT from it? The city council members? WOW this is something totally new!
Instead of the city using all our hard earned tax dollars for cameras, maybe they should look into our sewer system....I hope our mayor and aldermen have an answer to why we had major flooding on August 23, 2007 and again today. Maybe someone should let us know exactly what is happening...
Updates are being posted on the city web site, and there is a number to call 847/318-5200 for a recorded message.
There is a temporary emergency shelter being opened at Maine East for anyone needing to evacuate.
Please access the front page of the city web site at

for information as it becomes available.
