Is there anyone else out there that is tired of all the campaigning? Wouldn't it be nice that instead of the conventions (both Rep. and Dem.) the powers that be would use the money they spent to feed and shelter the homeless (no this isn't a plug for PADS), ease the tax burden, send needed dollars to schools, or how about lessening the national debt. I know, maybe instead of bankrolling conventions both parties could send dollars to those who would like to major in journalism and get rid of the reporters that grace NSNBC and FOX. Reporters seemed to have forgotten how to rep[ort the news, they only know how to create the news.
The campaigning has indeed gone on far too long. Candidates should be limited to 3 months prior to the primaries and the primaries should all be on the same day. Winners would then have 3 months to campaign before the election and we'd only have to put up with the B.S. and rhetoric for 6 months total and even that's about 5.75 months too much.
And what purpose do the conventions serve? Just an excuse to party (no pun intended). An obscene amount of money has been spent on the primaries and conventions and for what?
And while we're at it, let's get rid of the Electoral College. The highest office in the land and it isn't determined by direct popular vote? C'mon. And before you say the founding fathers had good reason for it, remember, the founding fathers didn't allow women and blacks the vote and that's been changed. The Electoral College is useless and unnecessary.
The electoral college concept is certainly frustrating at times, especially recently. The only question I have is would the issues of those who live in a rural environment be addressed? Wouldn't a smart politician play to only the major population based if it were based strictly on popular vote??

They do spend a lot of money on those campaigns - but think of all the hotels, restaurants, catering, hall rental, auto visual industry, communications businesses, cabs, --- oh where do I stop --- that are making money – it is actually fueling parts of the economy. Campaigns are run on contribution cash that might have just stayed in some rich guy’s bank account, but now it is buying balloons and staging platforms, keeping some businesses solvent.
I hope all those balloons were made in the U.S.A.!

Talk about a waste of money, Cindy McCain came under criticism for wearing an outfit that some estimate was worth $313,100 at the RNC on Monday night. Geeeez.
Yeah, for a couple hundred bucks to Friends of Frimark, you can be appointed alderman!
If Obama had been voting in the Senate all these past months, he then would have some esperience to put on his resume.
What is Cindy McCain thinking spending her money anyway she wants???? She should have given it to the homeless in PR.
