We found ourselves unable to color inside the lines today; we could not resist the urge to comment on the arrest of Illinois Governor (we use the title loosely) Rod Blagojevich yesterday. We weren't sure exactly what we wanted to say, but we were sure it would include the word "resign" and good riddance.
Fortunately for us, today's Chicago Tribune editorial expresses our sentiments perfectly.
#2 -- All we can say is, THANK YOU!
To the man who has stayed the course and done more to combat public corruption than anyone we know of.
#3 -- Everyone is innocent, just ask them!
Or, you can ask their attorneys.
What do Governor Blagojevich's chief of staff, John Harris who was also arrested yesterday on federal criminal charges, and Park Ridge's Mayor Howard Frimark and 4th Ward Alderman, James Allspaghetti, have in common?
They know who to call when they need their ass covered!
Remember that guy? The battle hasn't yet begun, but we're putting our money on the US Attorney in this match-up.
#4 -- While visions of campaign contributions danced in his head!
Looks like Third Ward Alderman, Don Bachtard may have fired his load a little early?
From the press article -- "It was 3rd Ward Alderman Don Bach who announced Frimark's plans to seek a second term in office when he submitted a letter to the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate on Monday, stating his intention to place his support behind Frimark."
And -- "When contacted this week, Frimark confirmed that he will run for re-election, but declined to comment very much beyond that, saying he would discuss his reasons for running and his record as mayor on Dec. 20. He also said a press release would be issued within days."
...as soon as his likely campaign manager writes it for him.
Hey dollface, whose email accounts will you be raiding, presumably without permission, this campaign season? And, we can't wait to see the positively libelous emails that will be landing in the electronic inboxes of Park Ridge citizens! That was you, wasn't it dollface? Maybe Mayor Howard can give you Ekl's office number.

WOW!!!
why does frimark have to run? yucky yucky yucky I don't know anyone who would vote for him
Anon@4:54 --
Have you met Alderman Bachtard? His letter in the paper today says he is supporting Mayor Howard, which leads us to believe he may even vote for him too -- in addition to acting as Mayor Howard's attack dog.

Sometimes it is hard to figure the "will of the people". Remember the citizens of Illinois voted for Mr. Pay-to-Play twice.
To quote Forest Gump (who is apparently brighter than our average Alderman):
Stupid is as stupid does.
Anyone else seen the chupacabra hiding out in city hall?
Is "dollface" the notorious Linda Ski, who has been to Frimark what Karen Hughes or Karl Rove was to George W. Bush? The same Linda Ski who was paid in the neighborhood of $28,000 to work on Frimark's 2005 mayoral campaign, and who was then paid another $8,000 or so to help get Allegretti and Carey elected as aldermen in 2007?
Is it safe to say "She's ba-ack"?
The issue to me is not the money. Politicians at all levels hire campaign managers and consultants and PR firms to craft their message and get it out to the public. Without knowing every single detail, the numbers you quote do not seem grossly our of order. Some of the people who filled these roles during the primaries and final election make well into the seven figure range (a few inching very close to 8 figures).
The issue to me is the tactics. I have no experience with her, but based on some of the comments on this board it would appear to me that the tactics employeed included false or distorted statements about peoples records. In other same old politics - this is what I am tired of.
Beyond that, she deserves to be paid for her work.
The issue is not that money is paid to "professionals" but rather the AMOUNT SPENT for a $12,000 a year job.
I suppose over 4 years, it is $48k, so the total justifies spending $28k on a spin doctor who will throw all the mud necessary to get the job done. Get ready for weekly color glossy flyers telling us how great everything is in town. And anonymous postcards with your pick of fear-mongering, sky-is-falling, dirty politics attacking the opponent.
Oh, and robocalls too.

You are trying to be too logical!!! Think about what Obama spent to be president and that job pays 400K I believe.
I bet we would be amazed at what the two state rep. candidates spent in the recent contest. My god I got a mailing every freakin day. I am sure the all had well paid consultants, all paid for with campaign donations
Is State Sen. Dan - candidiate # 007!
