A Thursday Two-fer!

#1 -- Water works!

For those of you disinclined to building or buying your own ark, the Park Ridge Park District will be meeting as a Committee of the Whole tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Maine Park Leisure Center to discuss two issues concerning water. The
agenda (.pdf) includes the following --

Buildings and Grounds Committee – Commissioners Vile/Maloney

A. Northwest Park – City Flood Issue/Future Plans (Executive Director Ochromowicz)

B. Future of Oakton Pool (Executive Director Ochromowicz)
On a related soggy note, the Park Ridge Park District website contains the following notice --

Notice from Park Ridge Park District:

In the interest of safety, South Park Pool will be closed from June 1 to mid-June for maintenance. To accommodate South Park's pre-season hours, the Centennial Wading Pool will be open at 10am during this maintenance. Thank you for your patience.

#2 -- Wet your whistle!

For those of you disinclined to attend meetings, you may want to consider attending a benefit party tonight!

1900 - 2300 hours is 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. for those of you disinclined to military time.

what, the police who are still drawing nice paychecks from Park Ridge couldn't find a Park Ridge venue for an event?

Anonymous @ 3:50,

Maybe...maybe not...but since they are taking their PERSONAL paychecks which they've EARNED, and are choosing to spend their PERSONAL money at an Edison Pk. venue...you're problem(s) with their doing so are what, exactly?

It is what I would term a thoughtless comment and piling on. It plays right into the "overpaid public employee", mindset. It is absolutely amazing to me in what low regard people hold police officers (and teachers and firemen). One would think that they were making 600K insted of 60K.

..."thoughtless comment?"..."piling on?"

You, dear soul, have chosen to far more graciously describe the "mindset" than the characterizations currently running through my head...

Maybe if the unions agreed to concessions, they wouldn't have lost some jobs and thus had to have a fundraiser.

To put it another way, maybe if the aldermen and the mayor would have not funded pet projects or think tree trimming is more important than police protection for us citizens then they wouldn't had to have a fundraiser for laid off police officers!

Wasn't there six people laid off from the police department? Why is there a benefit for only four officers and not everyone who worked at the police department?

Were the other 2 employees members of the F.O.P lodge?

Anonymous said...

I don't know if they are members or not, but in a department of that size and the two others were community service officers one would assume they worked together at some point....You know help one another out. So the f.o.p lodge said forget the others. Sounds like a great team over there.
