Pru or anybody...

Explain to me what the hell Allegretti was talking about. How does increasing the city manager's severance from 6 months to 12 months eliminate all the politics?

What a relief to know Schmidt has finally gotten to the bottom of the crooked Taste!!! We are going to go broke if we keep giving $9k of services to those Taste crooks for the 3 day summer fest!!!

I'm no fan of the secretive and very R-(repuglican)rated Taste management, but c'mon, guys: $3K per day for an event that brings tons of business and exposure to local retailers and restaurants and brings most of the community members of all ages out to enjoy an event together? It's a good -- maybe even great -- value. I'd just like some of the beer concession -- the part that goes to Taste and not to individual vendors -- to come to the City to defray our costs. If they're netting $65K, repaying $9K to the city should pose no hardship. They could keep the balance of the beer take to pay the talent, marketing materials, etc. and be truly a volunteer-led event. But there's no question that it's a popular, well-done event that gets more so every year, for good reason. No way could the City do an event anywhere near this good for $9K. Or, from what I've seen, for $90K.

Taste is a crock now. It was a nice, Park Ridge event--tagged on to sidewalk sale days--and now it is a big-ass beer fest. I feel like I am in some small town in Wisconsin every year when the Taste kicks off. Way too many people who come to drink beer and hang out in our beautiful uptown. I know it probably helps businesses somewhat but the type and amount of activities has gradually gotten more and more blue collar and less and less family oriented. My opinion folks. Don't shoot me.

What, blue-collar guys don't have families? Maybe you should be shot--with the humility gun.

hrrrmmm...I've never found over-indulgence in beer to be limited to those in "blue-collar" walks of life.

...wouldn't you agree, Mayor DipSchmidt?

This is not the first time I have heard the "Taste is becoming too blue collar" comment. I have to say I am not sure what the hell that means. I go to TOPR with my family and we meet and have fun with other families we know. A good time is had by all. Of course you occasionally see someone who has had or is having a few too many. But that does not seem to have changed much in the 5 years I have been going to the taste. But then again, it may be me becuase guess what?? I happen to like small towns in Wisconsin!! We go to one in particular about 10 times every summer.

I have to admit that I was wrong. I really thought this guy had a clue. The Mayor is on the Titanic and he's running around with a bucket. How do we keep electing these clowns to be Mayor?

LOL. We like the circus show!
