Vote NO on $500,000 for O'Hare noise consultants!

Anonymous said...

Never felt so poorly standing before a ballot in my life... so I voted. The alternative is no good option.

As a Karate Expert...

I agree there are few good options out there today, but go ahead and vote for the tallest midget.

What other choice do we have?

I voted NO on the O'Hare question because there wasn't an option for HELL NO!

I fear it is only going to get worse. The Supreme Court opened the flood gates to campaign financing and contributuins. Now all "interested parties" have to do is pick a person of limited qualifications who will do what they want and throw money at their election. It would appear this will take an already terrible pool of those willing to run and make it even worse.

2:56, YOu are probably right. It was off the wall for the Supreme Court to grant inidividual rights to corporations. As if.

I voted today too, but like the guy in the picture I was holding my nose the whole time.

Meg Whitman spent $ 140 million of her own money in her California race, and she still is not going to win. Give the electorate a little more credit than being wowed by slick commercials and fancy mailings.

For those interested lurkers, it appears the referendum result on o'hare noise abatement is a "no," though the vote results, so far, are closer than we expected.

The down state and collar county votes are coming in --

With 86 percent of the vote in, Kirk took a 48 percent to 47 percent lead over Giannoulias in unofficial returns. Earlier in the night the Democrat held an early lead on the strength of votes from Chicago and suburban Cook County.

Thank you Park Ridge for putting this idiotic O'Hare crap to rest.

Anonymous said...

Yes. Now the question should be settled once and for all. I'm sick of the O'Hare cry babies. Now they know what they should do. Move out if they can't stand it.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe this got 45%. Who thinks this was a good idea?

Bean said...

I can't believe the suburban vote went to Giannoulias!!!

...but the rest of the hayseeds voted for Kirk?!?! Riiiight, they hate all the bail outs and give-aways...'cept when it's farm subsidies...

Giannoulias is an idiot, but Kirk is a complete and total fraud.

Hey how about Pollak? What a waste of time?

ParkRidgeUnderground said...

Anon@12:10 --

Definitely not a waste of time. Contested elections are always better than not.

We also think the issues raised in contested elections help keep things lively, if not entirely honest.

Thank you, fellow citizens for (apparently) voting down the $500k for noise consultants.

@12:10 a.m. -- Pollak was not a waste of time. Anyone who wants to tax less and spend less is a true alternative to a politician who foams at the mouth like Schakowsky. It amazes me that over 100,000 want their taxes to be higher and their government to make economic decisions for them. If Schakowsky hadn't been put in the minority, she'd find a way to spend that $500k of your money at the federal level.

Anonymous said...

Well Taxpayer it would appear that the same voters you give credit for stopping the O'Hare nonsense also felt the same about the Pollak nonsense. No I'm wrong. O'Hare lost 55-45, Pollak lost 65-35. Now he can crawl back into his Teabaggger hole.

Anonymous said...

The reason the O'Hare thing got 45% is because the City was illegally putting out propaganda supporting this crap.

5th Ward Taxpayer,

Could you please explain, with examples/cites, your reasons for saying, "...a politician who foams at the mouth like Schakowsky. It amazes me that over 100,000 want their taxes to be higher and their government to make economic decisions for them. If Schakowsky hadn't been put in the minority, she'd find a way to spend that $500k of your money at the federal level."

So the cities propaganda worked better than Pollak's???

OMG WTF said...

Anon 10:06

You are one angry mother father. Decaf works.....trust me.

I voted for Pollack, but I also voted for Quinn, Madigan, Berrios, and David Orr. Are you saying that you must vote one way only or the other ? You can feel strongly about this issue, but not about that one ? This is the 21st century, and the one size fits all way of thinking went the way of the horse and buggy. Good day to you too.....douche !

Anonymous said...

WTF....

Voted for Pollak and Berrios? Well that explains a lot.

OMG WTF said...

Anon 11:08

I voted for who I thought were the best candidates, not along a party line or mindset. Not sure what that means to you, I wasn't offering an expanation or an excuse, just making a point.

I thought this was interesting...

So... I knew the referendum was non-binding but I wasnt sure how it would play out if it didnt go their way. Seems they found a quick spin: "...Christine Kutt, a member of the city's O'Hare Airport Commission, said the 5,678 residents who voted in favor of the referendum cannot be ignored."

Seems the OAC would have no problem ignoring the other 7,494!
