I always liked Calvin and Hobbes. Watterson had a way of putting things that was so clear but not preachy.

The Advocate has a piece about Frimarks ethics problem. The comment underneath the on line piece is PRICELESS!!!!!!

What’s the appeal of Calvin and Hobbes? I’ve never understood why some people love them so much. Can someone politely explain? Impolitely explain? Because I’m sure someone that loves this comic strip will find offense. So tell me. Don’t get it.

1242--that IS a good comment. Oh, that Mike Touhy.

Hilarious! I had forgotten about the press endorsements.

I bet the Advocate hoped everybody had. Too funny.

I cancelled my subscription after that act of idiocy.

Underneath the article about the former Mayor's newest ethics dilemma, the following comment appears --

"miketouhy wrote:
And just tho think the Herald-Advocate was supporting Frimark for a 2nd term."(sic)

So, let me get this straight.

1. According to the County Treasurer website Howard’s property tax bill from March still remains unpaid.
2. The tax bodies listed on that unpaid tax bill have not received their share of taxes he owes and had willfully refused to pay.
3. This includes not only the City of Park Ridge, but the Park Ridge Park District, School District 64 and School District 207. All of which are facing significant cuts in personnel and services to a fill a budget deficit partially caused by unpaid property taxes.
4. Howard is set to receive compensation from the City of Park Ridge for selling them Insurance.

This is so wrong.

Macko-

Right you are. Howard is happy to slop at the trough, but heaven forbid he contribute some of his own feed to the hopper.

Someone once told me he liked Calvin and Hobbes because it's an excellent depiction of an adult's idealized memory of childhood.

I think of Calvin and Hobbes as an excellent comic treatment of the id and the ego. I think Bill Watterson is genius.

Father Mac,

About Calvin and Hobbes - That makes sense considering the people that like it.

5:38 - Isn't everyone some kind of genius nowadays? I, for one, am a genius at watching TV.

Mr. Macko- your statements are correct but you are clueless. Don't you know that Howard is the EXCEPT?ION to all the rules? The rules do not apply to him. According to him, nothing is ever his fault, everyone is out to get him and when backed into a corner he says, "I didn't know." Or he has Jack Owens say it for him..

What does the psychiatric community call this? Psychosis? Something like that.

5:49, Not everyone is a genius nowadays. Maybe too many people watch too much t.v., like you do.

so what's the penalty for violating the ethics code? a slap on the wrist?

As I have said from the very beginning of this sad and unsavory saga, read Mark Twain's short story, "The Man Who Corrupted Hadleyburg."
It will give you pre-Halloween chills.

I think the penalty is a fine. There isn't jail time for anything.
