Tsk Tsk, Mr. Mayor. Politicizing public resources for political purposes is a no-no.

Use of taxpayer-funded resources (as in City Hall office space) for political purposes is not just a "no-no," it's against the law. Maybe someone should give our Mayor a lesson in ethics and legal requirements. It's never too late!

OMG, I just ran to look in my own phone book. Don't people got to jail for this?

Wow.............THE FBI IS REALLY HERE!

Can someone please tell me
are you really happy with your
gov't ? Are you happy with the
day - to - day - mtg - to -mtg
results ?

If not.......then its time for
a new gov't.

Remember......."for the people,
by the people, and of the people".

Where have we gone wrong - here ?

Just think if A. Lincoln had a buyout program - back then too!

I think........that office has the 7th ward written all over it !

Is that a direct line to Sen. Danger Dan's office ?

The Link to the State of Illinois Ethics Commission is:

http://www.eec.illinois.gov/documents/PrdhibitedPolit2.pdf

The City of Park Ridge should "minimally" abide by the State of Illinois laws. As a city, we can choose to make our Laws tougher than the State of Illinois as long as they do not violate the constitution.

Read the section regarding
State Property and Resources. Wouldn't use of a city held public office space for campaign phone calls be considered in violation of the State Ethics Law?

This is very funny.

I saw the Mayor this weekend and he was telling anyone who would listen to him what a great thing the early retirements are for the city, and how he was providing for the retirement of valued city employees.

I did ask how it was good for the tax-payers and was met with a fairly blank look. My guess is that none of these retirements will benefit the tax payers and we'll end up paying more in the end.

Rumor has it there is still one more to come..anyone want to submit their resume for Chief of Police?

perhaps Mr. Mayor would like to respond to this at the city council meeting this evening.

How could anyone with as much political experience as Howard be so stupid as to put a campaign telephone in public property?

I guess that is rhetorical.

It does not matter who paid for the phone, but rather that it is in City Hall, where the taxpayers pay for the lights, water, maitenance, cleaning service, furniture, supplies, etc. that this Bozo abuses while making and accepting fundraising calls, like, hypothetically:

("Hi Howard, remember those campaign donations? Now we need $400k to clean up the mess we made at our old car dealership? Yes I know we made lots of money while we polluted, but you can use TIF money to clean it all up and that way the taxpayers can pay for it instead. More money for me, any you know what that means for you.")

and

("This is Howard. I need some money in my campaign fund so I can give it to Allegretti/Bach/Carey, so I can have control of the council. How about a few bucks?")

And now what's on the City Council Agenda $400k for Napleton/PRC.

And how many $$$ did Howard give to his hand-picked aldermen in exchange for their support.

Remember gentle voters, you wanted this smaller government. Less checks and balances = more abuses.

Has anyone contacted the Attorney General's Office, the State's Attorney or State Board of Elections?

All the ethics rules instituted over the past few years, over the objections and whining of the Mayor, can't protect the citizens of Park Ridge from someone so bent on ignoring or finding a way around them.

I supppose he will claim ignorance, and while it is more than true in Howard's case, it is still not a defense.

Someone should investigate this!!

we're going to be on the NEWS, like Cicero was a few years ago...I feel it!

Reggie,

Also, since the address in the public phone directory is listed at city hall, who pray tell deals with the mail? Does Howard run out everyday to catch the mailman so he can pull the mail for Friends of Frimark out of stack before any city employees, being paid with public tax dollars, are handling his mail for him? I doubt it.

Anonymous said...

Mayor Frimark isn't "stupid." He's the Bill Beavers of Park Ridge: "The hog with the big nuts."

First he plays Red v. Blue and beats up his opponent two years ago, then he plays victim when the Council Majority "takes away his powers" before using Judy Barclay and the purple people eaters to intimidate the Council majority, and finally he turns that majority into poster children for cutting the council in half.

Who's left to try to keep him in line? Schmidt from the first ward seems to be putting up a fight, and Wsol from the seventh lends a hand from time to time. But the pickin's after that are pretty lean.

It's amazing to me how quickly news from here travels in this town. I have been hearing about this all day, from many different people.

Great to hear how many people are talking about "news" in this town.

Look out Mr. Mayor, people may actually find out what goes on at 505 Butler Place.

AKA Friends for Frimark HQ.

He's framing them as "early retirements", when in fact they're "early force outs"
The 5 & 5 is a minimal buyout incentive...but it looks great when you consider the alternative...ulcers, heart attacks, going home and kicking the family dog, etc.
None of the department heads who have left or will be leaving soon had planned to do so.
They simply couldn't handle the stress of a meddling mayor telling them how they will run the day to day operations of their departments.
Caudill resisted, stood his ground for awhile, and is about to pay a bitter price. But he's still a member of the old school and has no place in the master plan.
Anyway, check EEOC records going back a few years. The City of PR was determined by the EEOC to have a predisposition for age discrimination. That "sustained" complaint led to a lawsuit and nice payout.
The mayor's cleanin' house, but it's the taxpayer that's gonna end up bearing the heavy cost of his discriminatory actions.

Why not the feds? This is classic fed stuff. Besides that, George Ryan needs someone to help him with cleaning the bathrooms.

I honestly think the feds are already watching.

PSA from the PRU Crew:

Dear readers,

In case any of you become alarmed that such a photo of an alderman may exist, and that we here at PRU would make an attempt to reach for a new low by posting it, rest assured; we will only print such a photo of Mayor Howard Frimark.

We would love to get our hands on the one of Howard in his Elvis costume too!

Why does he even need an office? Marous gave that space to the city admin to use, along with his designated parking space too.
Howard took back the office, and the parking space...and helped himself to some furniture from Sacomanno's office before Joe's body was even cold.

Howard continues to be Park Ridge's scofflaw-in-chief.

This morning at the train station, briefcase in one hand and Starbucks in the other, ol' Howard ignored the flashing lights and clanging bells and dashed across the tracks in front of the 8:06 express train.

Earlier this year the PRPD had a grant to enforce safety issues at railroad crossings. During the enforcement push, $250 tickets were issues to commuters crossing the tracks when the gates were down and lights were flashing. This is just another example of Howard believing the rules do not apply to him and he can do whatever the hell he wants, as long as nobody is looking.

Trouble is, everyone on that platform saw what he did. Hopefully, the videotape caught his latest transgression, and there will be appropriate follow-up by the authorities.

If not, it is just yet another example of Howard demonstrating his belief that the rules do not apply to him. And that is too bad for all the other commuters tagged with $250 tickets, and everyone else who follows the rules.

Anonymous said...

Yes, you know I take the train on regular basis and I have never seen the mayor on the train. He was on the train today heading downtown and in such a hurry that he illegally crossed the tracks while the gate crossing was down (a $500 fine I believe). Where do you think he was going in such a hurry?

Anonymous said...

perhaps he had a meeting with Big Jim Thompson because he knows he has broken so many laws. He wants an attorney who'll defend him 'til the end, like he did for Gov Ryan now. Ryan must be somebody's bitch by now.

Let's stop the head banging here..when the next election comes
around....vote the old folks/guard back in and we will see - then.

In the meantime - watch out for the plow trucks....our should I say - the sod busters!!!

Does anyone know just what the city will do with the Napleton property ?

20 + years worth of hazardous materials in that building ?

Who will pay for that clean up ?

The former owner of Tom Noe's..what

He drove that buick/olds dealership into the ground.
