Rosemary's Risky Business!

Note -- PRU will be coloring a bit outside the lines today, but when garbage like this lands in the mailboxes of unsuspecting Park Ridge residents, we can't resist.

The PRU Crew was doing some after-election reading and ran across this on a dailyherald.com blog called 'Animal Farm' -- which by the by we think is a pretty great name for a political blog.

Blog author JP wrote the post which contains the following quote from State Representative Rosemary Mulligan: “I had my people ready to vote for McCain. Then they put Palin on (the ticket) and they look and me and say, ‘What do you want me to do now?’” (sic)

We guess Rosemary had a "eureka" moment while searching her soul for an answer, and then she had her campaign and political operatives mail out the following, which some faithful PRU readers and Park Ridge residents were kind enough to send us --

We know who "Citizens for Rosemary Mulligan" are, but we had never heard of the "Independent Campaign Committee." So, we looked them up. And we still aren't too sure about who they are, but if they're sending out political mail with Obama's picture on it, we're willing to take a wildass guess that they're probably on the liberal side of the aisle.

And as long as we were digging around the Illinois State Board of Elections Campaign Disclosure website, we decided to take a look at Rosemary's disclosure filings too -- to see if Rosemary had declared an in-kind contribution from the "Independent Campaign Committee", who were kind enough to inform the voters of Park Ridge of Rosemary's political similitude to Barack Obama.

We found that the $84,058.76 Rosemary reported in in-kind contributions came from three sources:

1 -- the Illinois Republican Party gave Rosemary $30,607.84

2 -- the House Republican Organization gave Rosemary $26,144.88

3 -- Personal PAC gave Rosemary $27,306.04

Personal PAC gave more in-kind moola to Mulligan than the House Republican Organization. And can anybody guess who is largely responsible for funding Personal PAC? We'll give you a hint -- the label starts with a capital "D" and ends in "emocrats."

For those of you not familiar with who Personal PAC is, they bill themselves as "a bi-partisan political action committee dedicated to electing pro-choice candidates to state and local office in Illinois." And from what we can tell, they do conduct themselves in a bi-partisan way. But one of our faithful PRU readers is of the opinion that Personal PAC will bend over backwards to ruthlessly endorse pro-choice Republicans because there aren't all that many currently holding office -- and Personal PAC needs to maintain the appearance of bi-partisanship.

Welcome people to a taste of the more local version of what columnist John Kass calls "the Combine."

What the PRU Crew believes is that politicians have long understood partisan politics only really matters to ignorant voters that can't be bothered to pay attention, and easy labels are a useful tool for confronting the ignorant. So we strongly suggest that the next time somebody like Rosemary's Political Baby tries to play you for a fool, short-hand the discussion, and warn you that he's the only thing holding back the marauding Democrat horde from invading Park Ridge, tell Rosemary's Political Baby they're already here and they helped get Rosemary re-elected.

This just proves the case that
" if it smells bad ...yep..it is
crap!

RM would sell her soul and this
posting just adds to it.

I guess you could call the politics
of RM and a few others...just like
the old film title....Bob, Carol, Ted & Alice only now we would call it...." Barac, Hillary, Howard
and Rosemary". All in bed together!

Some things never change.

What WH posting is RM looking for
or who will fill the US senate seat ..now open here in Illinois ?

Its a race to see how much can RM
kiss up to Barac.

Shame on you RM.

You have sold your sole to the devil.

Talk about Rosemary's baby.....

Does anybody actually read the political mailings? Seems like a HUGE waste of money to me, but judging by the number we received during the last election cycle, someone thinks mailings have some merit. I guess the upside is that the mailings kept printers working.

I'd vote very quickly for campaign spending limits and limiting the length of time campaigning is permitted!

PRU:

Interesting story today. I received the mailing you posted. The flurry of crap that was sent out from both sides of that contest was astounding.

Alas, there is no consistency required to be a politician - in fact it is probably the exact opposite.

My reaction when I received the mailing was that her polling pointed her in this direction so she did it. If it contradicts one of her other arguments so be it.

This is the same mentality that causes politicians to scream about socialism while, at the same time, voting to bail out the banks and AIG.

"Political similitude"...? Between Obama and Mulligan...???

When lipsticked pigs fly!!!

PRU, I guess I should say thanks for this information, but it turns my stomach. I was not one of the lucky postal customers to get the mailings but maybe that is why I was lucky? What a sham. I am sick and tired of the politicians.

Whose the guy on the car and why is he wearing high heels?

ParkRidgeUnderground said...

The guy on the car is a photoshop of Terry Cosgrove, the Executive Director of Personal PAC. According to some of our correspondence -- and research -- the heels are apropos; we thought a pink feather boa would be gilding the lily.

More of the same dishonest and dirty politics we can look forward to from this bunch.

what a load of bull. does anyone know how things work down state? mulligan and obama worked closely together on a lot of nothing. check the records folks. mulligan's name doesn't appear as even an alternate or co-sponsor on at least one of these bills and she was added as an alternate co-sponsor to most of these bills long after they were filed along with a lot of others because anybody who has worked with mulligan knows you cannot leave her to get things done on her own because of how many people she has alienated.

park ridge, you really do have to start demanding better conduct from your representatives. your town is known as a bit of an inside joke.

What's next? Frimark campaign literature with Obama?

Or maybe that picture of Howard telling Rudy Guilliani that Howard was going to deliver Park Ridge for him.

Howard and his newest best friend, Jan Schakowsky, working together to get federal money to tunnel Cumberland under the RR tracks.

I read this and nearly barfed. "her top issue in Springfield is social service funding – not cutting it" Does anyone wonder why Frimark has tried so hard to get a PADS shelter into Park Ridge at all costs?

I am a pro-choice voter, but I'm not a single issue voter either. I can see the forest for the trees.

I am also a supporter of glbt rights (gay, lesbian, bi-, trans-, for those not familiar with the abbreviation). I think the recent prop 8 vote in California is shameful, but bravo to Connecticut!

That being said, I am dumbfounded by Personal PAC's behavior in this last election. I believe their CEO has lost his ethical compass and has forsaken his conscience.

It has been a bit odd to know that a gay man has been spearheading a woman's issue, but I have always been a supporter who tried to mind my policy and not engage in gender based politics, and I still believe that is the best path. But this one I simply cannot get past.

I'm sorry to say I will no longer be supporting Personal PAC. My conscience won't allow it.

I think this is hilarious! Nobody screws their own like the Demorats! Mulligan just used a judo move to her advantage! Brilliant!

Hey Fred-
Here's the latest scoop
on the fed money from Jan
thru Howie - its dead!

The truth finally came out.
The people don't want it.
Howie lied to Jan's office too.

The funds are off the table - trust
us.

Daniel based out of Jan's office
in Wash comfirmed it.

It was the sly move on Howie's part to obtain the 500,000K
but when Jan's office found out
that Howie lied in stating
that the PEOPLE of PK want to widen
and revise Cumberland Ave....
which is totally untrue - then the tables were turned.

Nothing like giving false statements to uncle same - Howie!

If anything - Cumberland project is dead.

Howie lied.

500K went south.

End of project/discussion.

"Howie lied"...???

I'm shocked, SHOCKED!!!

Does Howie really lie...??? Only when his lips are moving...

Anon @ 1:31 - Don't count on the Cumberland Extension Project ("CEP") being dead. While publicly announcing that he will no longer pursue it, Liemark has privately indicated that he will continue to agressively fight for some way to push the project through.

If we can't get Liemark out of office next year (for a whole HOST of reasons above and beyond the ridiculous CEP), you can bet your checkbook it'll come roaring back in some form.

Every Park Ridge voter who helped put this clown in office and then helped him cut the council in half owes the rest of us big-time. So all of you knuckleheads - you know who you are - better get behind the campaign of his challenger.

It only took two years for many to finally realize "the voters invited a pig to dine, with impunity, at the public trough", and I think everybody should remember that.

I'm personally enjoying the show, when I'm not shaking my head in disgust.

Can anyone tell me what people saw in him? I looked it up and the vote was not even close. If the figures I found are accurate (4889 to 3224) they would equate to over 60% of the popular vote. The other thing that kind of shocked me about the numbers is it seems like a LOW turn out.

So what was it? False promises? Seemed good in comparison to the old guy? Money? All of the above?

Anonymous said...

As I recall his opponent was a really nice guy who turned out to have been sanctioned by our Federal Court for unethical conduct while representing a client.

He was also closely aligned to a group of aldermen who weren't very popular with many in the community and he was financially supported by a number of democrat politicians.

Shame on me for not paying attention sooner to all of our City politics but thanks to the PADS issue I am now in the game!! I am watching and listening to everything...and you all should too!!

Watch for:

- Howie to push for a new PD station.
- Howie will run for election again.
- Howie will up your taxes to pay
for the new PD station.
- Howie will tell you he's not
for new taxes then back door us
after the election.

The choice is easy.....

Vote for Howie.....

or

vote for the new guy!!

Thanks!

Look out......its called the freedom of choice act. Obama wants to pass this pro-abortion act as soon as he gets into office.

Rosemary also supports the act too.
So do many of the democratic leftists.

Howie and many others are behind this.

We are in for a tough haul.

Hang onto to your flag, you wallets,
your kids and your rights!!

Its starting...

Hang on to your flag??? So you get to decide who or what is "real american". Wait, I mean you and Palin.
