Fall Gal.

Chief seeks to fire officer charged with lying in probe

PR H-A :: News :: Item 3

"A Park Ridge police officer has been suspended without pay, pending a Sept. 4 disciplinary hearing where the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners will decide whether she should be terminated from the police force."

Obviously, Denmark hasn't cornered the market on rotten.

Officer Lisa Smith will be sacrificed on the altar of Do Something! so that the golden fleece boy, who answered the siren's call - hi there, Hoopty Lou, how's it going in traffic? - can be kept safe for future use as a PRPD pitchman; there are not too many coppers with the ability to speak and write impressive sounding bullshit as well as Hoopty Lou can.

Then there is the ass of the brass that has to be covered - cut one out, and probable demotions for the rest of the trouble makers should get the job done - in other words, the beatings will continue until morale improves.

Lest residents become alarmed at the current internal state of the PRPD, they can have Coffee with the cops and be assured that all is well.

Officer Smith has a reputation in the department as a tough, take-no-garbage, stand up and be counted gal. Which means, she makes some people uncomfortable. Though, we must admit we sure do think she's been stupid about this whole thing.

Here's a hint Officer Smith, if you're going to be a whistle blower, you actually have to put your lips together and blow.

The cost of tuition for this life lesson will probably be her job.

Do be sure to look for more in-depth reporting on this story from our local press. After all, there's nothing sweeter than revenge. We're just not sure a ticket for running a stop sign merits ugly coverage.

Let's see here. You earlier praised Jayne Reardon for coming forward and exposing the evil-doings of those nasty police officers. And yet, Officer Lisa Smith was one of the officers Reardon filed a complaint against. Now, you are calling Smith the innocent scapegoat. Hypocritical? Sounds like it.

We didn't call Officer Smith innocent. We do believe she's being used as a scapegoat.

The discipline hearings aren't related to Reardon's complaint. They are about Officer Smith's conduct as it relates to Hoopty Lou.

But, we understand there are those who might want to spin the story in a way that is supposed to satsify Reardon's complaint and ignore the internal turmoil created by Hoopty Lou.

Funny that the City spent so much time, effort and especially money on this investigation to get rid of a couple of whiny officers. Have the detectives solved that homicide on Broadway yet? I wonder on which investigation was the most money spent??? You may want to ask the Chief - did they actually investigate Hoopty Lou??? Oh , and a few years ago - a male officer was allegedly smearing fecal matter inside the men's lockerroom bathroom stall door for several days during a several week period. Was that investigated? Or was it too embarrassing to think one of their own would do something like that - so under the rug it was swept... Stay tuned for more revelations...

To Anon.^^

We just love an exercise in first amendment freedom, but we also know about yelling fire in crowded movie theaters.

While you exercise your right to free speech, make sure you exercise circumspection along with it.

Shouldn't this culture change start at the top?? Naw, that makes too much sense....nevermind!

Why do the cops all refer to Hoopty Lou as "the shirtless man"?

First, because they don't "name names" on their website; they just name-call.

Second, it is a reference to a "fictionalized" character and description. One of the PRU Crew read it a long time ago, but can't remember the details.
