Another One Bites the Dust!

In February of this year, the last city council passed the Early Retirement Incentive plan (ERI). We've been watching the dominoes fall ever since.

First out the door was Joe Saccomanno, Director of Public Works.

Second out the door was Brian Emanuel, Assistant Director of Community Development who was also the top Environmental Health Officer for the City.

Third to announce his exit was Randal Coo coo cachoo Derifield, Director of Community Development.

Yesterday, City Manager Timothy Schuenke announced he's leaving to return to the land of milk and cheese, a.k.a. the State of Wisconsin.

In this weeks edition of the Journal & Topics, the last paragraph of an article about the city council's Law Firm Decision? reads as much like a want-ad as it does a reporting of facts. As we told you before, Chief of Police Jeff Caudill's head seems to be next on Mayor Frimark's butcher block.

Did we say falling like dominoes? We meant that they are dropping like flies over there at 505 Butler Place!

With the exit of 4 top-tier city employees, Frimark is in the position of populating the upper echelon of city government with people he hand-picks for like-minded loyalty to himself.

We can hardly wait for the tall tales to begin spinning about "Mayor Howard Frimark; Government Reformer!"

Welcome to Howardwood!

Pick one: A bunch of washed-up time servers forced out by Howard and company in their ongoing efforts to clean up Park Ridge, or dedicated and effective public servants leaving because they can't stand Howard's way of doing business?

Time will tell, but my money's on the latter.

Can the Mayor take early retirement?

The letter you posted isn't signed, so how does anyone know if it's true or not?

Your not knowing it's true, because of a missing signature on an electronically sent document, doesn't make the fact of Schuenke's resignation untrue. But we encourage PRU readers NEVER to just take our word for anything. Go ask.

it's true

and it's also the beginning or continuance, depending on your perspective, of alot of agenda filling motions that are not necessarily good for the City or its residents...

Yeah, next thing you know, the City Council will be taking about giving money (a lot of money, say $400k) away to private parties in a private transaction, just because they can. They say they can do it under the TIF, so that makes the gift honky-dory.

And oh yeah, one of the parties gave ol' Howard some campaign cash.

Bend over folks and open your wallets!!! You tax dollars, by way of the TIF, straight to Napleton and PRC!

Reggie,

"honky-dory"?

BWWAAAAAAAAAAHHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Too true!!!!!

Saccamanno - sad to see him go.
Emanuel - no loss.
Derifield - great hair.
Schuenke - On, Wisconsin!

I think the buyout program will save us money in the long term.

A. - Pension with a bonus.

B. - Pension with insurnace for 5 years and NO bouns money.

Q - What about the double dippers - here now ?

Either way - we can trim the budget, get rid of the dead wood, hire the new guy(s) and see to it that the city will have a chance of getting back on track.

A little birdy says that Howard's hand-picked successor to the top-cop job is none-other-than Bill Hominick, who, incidentally, was foced out of his Police Commander position back in Jan 1999 because of a history of sexual harassment- straw that broke the camel's back? distributing obscene internet Santa material around Christmastime... Hmmmmm...

So when is Chief Caudil going to submit his resignation - and which Friend of Frimark does the mayor have all teed up as his replacement?

IF naughty Bill does get his hand-job...oops, I mean hand-picked position...it will only prove that thorough background checks are NEVER conducted in the good 'ol city of PR.

Anonymous 8:40 AM:

If the City Manager and the City Council did their job, the "dead wood" would be fired instead of rewarded with early retirement. What goofs came up with this idea, anyway?

Bill Hominick???

You have got to be kidding!!
He's got an ego that won't
fit through a doorway - sir!

I thought Howard was thinking
positive - not negative.

If Hominick is chosen...then its
back to the old Pd tactics...maybe we can even find a way that " Buzz"
can allow WATER BOARDING FOR ALL ARRESTS!!!

Talk about going backwards!!

AND FINALLY..........THERE A LITTLE SKELETON IN THE CITY'S CLOSET..YES SPORTS FANS...SOMETIME AGO THE FMR POLICE CHIEF...ALLOWED A TWICE CONVICTED MOBSTER TO RUN HIS TAXI CABS OUT OF THE PARK RIDGE TRAIN STATION. YES.....ROSEMONT TAXI CABS WERE RUN WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THIS OUTFIT GUY WOULD KEEP HIS CABS OUT OF PARK RIDGE...SO LONG AS TO DISPATCH OUT OF THE TRAIN STATION.

Its time for a through clean up - here!!!!
