Benedict Alderman Ryan, Illustrated!

Benedict Alderman Robert Ryan (5th ward) has penned a letter in today's edition of the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate. We decided to illustrate his missive here.

Finding right solution that all can embrace

I would to thank the Ministerial Association and St. Mary's for holding a public open house Monday, April 28 about the proposed PADS site suggested at St. Mary's, and for all the work that St Mary's has put into the proposed PADS program.

I believe that almost everyone would like to help the homeless -- help give them a better chance in life, help them while they are down, and give them courage. Such generosity and compassion have long been the cornerstones of this community.

However, it is critical that we as a community find a location that all can embrace. Such a positive outcome requires dialogue in the context of a process that explores all options available. To that end, I encourage the Ministerial Association to:

• Form a subcommittee to consider other sites in Park Ridge; this committee should include residents as well as PADS representatives.

• Agree upfront on a set of 4 to 5 key criteria for an optimum location.

• Hold another public meeting in three months or so to share their findings, including a comparison of sites using the St. Mary's site as the "base condition" for comparison purposes.

Perhaps this dialogue will prove that St. Mary's is the best site, but this dialogue is critical and should take place to ensure the final site is the optimum location.

I would rather delay the opening of a PADS site for six months than select a site that has been identified without exploring other options and before the concerns of neighbors and community members have been addressed.

Robert Ryan, Alderman, 5th Ward

But the people of this town keep electing him to things, so either he's never had any competition or the voters are even bigger losers. It's gotta be the British accent because there's not an ounce of substance. Once I got past his gratuitous butt-kissing of St. Mary's and the Ministerial Association, the rest of his letter sounded like something Wally might say in a Dilbert strip.

Thanks for the frigging laugh.

I just saw the photo from yesterday. Question. When Howard isn't promoting "neat to use your feet week", is he driving his SUV or his Jaguar?

Good old Howie and Gov. Balgo....

We now know that the Chicago Tribune is....conducting an investigation into Mayor Frimark's " special projects"
funding from the state ( Dems )of Illinois.

- The noise wall money ????????

- The south corridor money ????

- The ($ 20,000 art in the park/music project)that was raided from the state veterans and cut up by Gov. Blago's " pet projects" people such as Rosemary Mulligan.
And she want's to be re-elected ?

Let's hope we can see some results - soon.

Thank you.

Hey Anonymous 12:10

Even as "anonymous" we can figure out your posts - Dem bashing (what, no mention of "Danger Dan" today?) and Mulligan bashing (for being pro-choice).

Why not try focusing just on the graft and corruption, waste and stupidity here in Park Ridge. Yeah, the Rs and the Ds are like "dogs and cats, living together" (Dr. Peter Venkman). Yeah, Howard will take money from "Danger Dan" and from Rosie. Yeah, Aurora Borealis will Schmooze Howie while running against Rosie. Yeah, the money boys that you don't even know about are grabbing with both hands behind the scenes on land deals, contracts, etc. Yeah, Napleton will get his $400 grand or more some way or another. Yeah, public art is a waste of money by both Rs and Ds.

But put away your Joe Schiller mask and your "Operation Rescue" t-shirt and get with the local program.

huh? I missed something.
The Trib is investigating Howie?

I thought it was the funding that was getting investigated, not Frimark. The Trib has been looking into the pay to play ethics bill.

I congratulate Ald. Ryan for finally communicating his thoughts to his constituents and the rest of the community...however milquetoast those thoughts may be...

But seriously, Ald. Ryan, do you ever decide anything on your own...? Anything...? Ever...? I've lost track of the number of occasions in which you have requested...formation of a committee...formation of a task force...advice from an "expert"...a survey of what is done in other towns...a recommendation from staff...another study from another consultant...

The only thing I've seen Ald. Ryan offer, presumably on his own, is a timeline for the building of a new police station...and frankly, based on Ald. Ryan's usual m.o....I'm left to wonder if that timeline was of his own making...?

Bloody hell, man!

Ryan made the EOP decision on his own.

No, wait...he got advice from Bruce Adreani. Oops.

has anyone considered approaching one of the "optimal sites" and asking them if they would host the shelter? Don't you think the neighbors of that church would start b***ing too?

Congrats to Senator Dan for voting for the recall law.

Too bad three more senators did not have the backbone to vote for its as well.

Can we still get a recall provision in our home-rule community? Or do we need to form a committee to study, and a consultant to prepare it, before I have to ask 30 other people if I should support it or not.
