Ping-Ping-Ping!
In today's Herald-Advocate we read that one of our local reporters has been paying attention! Local reporter, Jennifer Johnson, took a look around the room she was in last Saturday and she noticed something missing -- 4th Ward Alderman Jim Allspaghetti! She then did some digging. The result is today's Herald-Advocate article 'Alderman: Work interferes with budget meetings'
The article notes, "Allegretti was absent from the council's March 14 workshop, and also missed the one-day Saturday budget meetings in 2006, 2007 and 2008." The article goes on to quote Allspaghetti saying, "I always see clients on Saturday and I use Saturdays to prepare for the coming week," he said. "I wish I could have been there." The PRU Crew would like to point out that budget workshops are scheduled well in advance, and most competent adults are able to manage and juggle scheduling demands. We find it very difficult to believe that Ald. Allspaghetti could not manage to attend even one Saturday budget workshop during the last 4 years.
As we've discussed many times, most of these clowns do a terrible job of representing the interests of Park Ridge. But if they don't even bother to show up then the people they are supposed to represent have nothing. And in this particularly rough economic climate, nothing could prove to be very costly.
PRUdos to the Herald-Advocate's Jennifer Johnson for a good little fully-loaded article!

actually the comment from Allegretti should have read, "um, the mayor told me that I didn't need to be there so I didn't go. I just do what he says."
Nice to see the Advocate getting on the stick! PRUdos to PRU for first paying attention and bringing up the issue of meeting attendance.
I do think there should be some kind of penalty for failing to attend meetings. If you make a commitment then you should keep that commitment. If you can't do that then I think you should step down from the position. It is not fair to the people you promised to represent to not bother to show up.
I think there is a penalty in place for not attending meetings...being voted out of office.
Glad the Advocate is reporting it so the people of his ward can make an informed choice when he's up for re-election.
Al........its a ten min penalty !
or coffee with Howie..
see you tonight!
The people of his ward should also remember that Allegretti made a secret contribution to Howard's '05mayoral campaign and then ended up being appointed as Howard's replacement. This year, Allegretti gave Howard $1000 for his mayoral campaign and then somehow found the time during his busy schedule to write a letter trashing Schmidt. Perhaps he should have spent that time trying to figure out how to help his constituents get out from under the financial mess caused by his mentor, the mayor. What rot.
Hi guys! I'm new to this site and think its great.we gotta get frimrc outta here.See ya later sucker. change is comng to park Ridge, finally. its so old people here.
esmeralda, if that is your real name,
We all appreciate your interest in our site. But please use facts when expressing your opinion. I'm sure you do not want to make us all look dumb.
Wasn't Esmeralda the crazy Aunt on Bewitched?
Anon@1:41 --
No, you're thinking of Aunt Clara. Esmeralda was the self conscious maid.
dumb? really? Well maybe i dindt go to college and were suits to work but things are changing and you willl see. whats so funny about maids? and theh name is latin not tv peoples. The peoples in the big houses in aprk ridge will pay meor taxes now as they should. It is time to be different.
Can I vote esmeralda off the island?
(At least to take some typing or proof-reading lessons?)

Oh yes, island like flooding in park Rige, Frimark island im sure!
I love that PRU knows Bewitched trivia. I've always believed the sign of a great mind is one overly familiar with 60's and 70's TV.:)
Esmerelda...could you be a plant?
esmeralda --
Impressive.
We think your introduction wasn't well delivered or received, as there are a number of old people around here.
And the fact is, the largest demographic population in Park Ridge is over 18 years old and under 65 years old, which makes Park Ridge anything but an "old people" community.
That being said, the old people in this town are the bulk of the voters who turn out on election day. They are also the people most responsible for having made and sustained Park Ridge as a nice place to work, live and raise a family for all these many years.
We have a lot of respect for that.
esma,
You are dumb. Esta estupia. Oui, no ere nocommuncar. Now leave.
What's wrong with old people?
I hope to be on someday. And for a long time.
I'm sorry to old person. But try to change. it is good fro all of us and yes I do l ike planting and gardens. No voy!
Stay classy, Park Ridge!
Miss Esmeralda,
With all do respect, some change can be bad. I love your excitement and desire to make our community a place where old people are impolitely ushered from social consideration, but, please respect us as well.
This could all be a simple misundersatnding as your English skills are lacking. This is not to be demeaning. I am the first to fight for more diversity on our community.
If I am offending you, please forgive me. I am sorry.
Back to the topic, please!
I'm from the 4th ward and I am absolutely livid that our Alderman did not attend the budget hearing!
I am grateful to the paper and this blog for informing me of Mr. Allegretti's failure to take part in one of the most fundamental parts of his job, and that is helping to decide the course for our community's future.
I look forward to hearing his challenger if he should choose to run again, and at this point I hope Mr. Allegretti does not choose to run again!
To old lady,
No, I am sorry. I do not meen to offend you. But you should think about change.
Yes, back to the topic. What the hell are we paying for? We are getting up the you know what from the feds, the state and now we are paying a guy to pursue his private carrer on our dime? Tea party in uptown?
Anonymous @ March 19, 2009 3:38 PM,
I agree with everything you said. We can only hope someone will step forward and take on the responsibility. I have my doubts and fears about that happening, and for anyone who would ask why I don't do that myself, it is because I don't feel I have enough understanding of everything that goes on. I am learning though and I'm not willing to sit back and think the elected representatives are just taking care of everything.
I will be voting in this upcoming election, and I am embarassed to admit it will be the first local election I will be voting in. I am paying attention, and I hope everyone is.

As you stated - you are ignorant, unmotivated and ashamed. But you are honest. You'll have my vote.
Tony V.
Perhaps rather that a riot we should ask him to return the $100.00 per month.
When Allegretti ran in 2007, his only opponent was a college kid. Nice kid with plenty of moxie, but no chance to win. And both Bach and DiPietro ran unopposed, so there was no one in their wards to even run against them.
All we can hope is that if Schmidt beats Frimark, one or more of these mopes might up and quit. before their terms are done.
Allegretti is the guy Frimark said was the best choice to fill his seat when he became Mayor.
Go figure.
Anonymous at 412,
Not exactly...and if you asked Howard about that today, he would probably start by telling you what a real good guy Alderman Allegretti is...and that a man's gotta make a living! and being an Alderman is a volunteer job...and Allegretti himself might even ask you, "What do you expect for $100 bucks a month?"...and then Howard would remind you that it was a panel of 4th ward residents, conveniently chosen by Howard, that "recommended" Allegretti for the job...
...that's Howard's modus operandi...he off-loads EVERY SINGLE IOTA of accountability he can...while still keeping his finger on the lever for the final decision...

Excuse me? I'm ignorant, unmotivated and ashamed? What?!!?
I don't know how in heavens you read that in my comment.
I think you have me confused with somebody else. Maybe with yourself.
Bean:
Tremendous recall! Do you keep notes on everything?!!?
Anonymous at 506,
...not on everything, no.
;)
Anon505:
I will not comliment you again. Does everything have to be simplistic? Irony? Not needed at 505's place.
Thanks for the public humiliation.
Hey, what's will all the hullabalu? Let's stay on point here - Frimark bites the high hard one. Anyone agree?
Anon 5:52,
Ew!Ick!Ew! As soon as I recover from the mental picture you just created, um, I'll be raising my hand in agreement. Feeling woozy right now. Excuse me for a moment. Going to have to go lie down for a minute.
Your comments on J. Johnson.
Wonder if she's improving?
I ask because of this PW site and the comments made by one of members.

Jimmy is too busy to show up to meetings to work on the budget.
He must be too busy writing checks:
James L. Allegretti & Associates
617 Devon Park Ridge, IL 60068
$500.00
3/17/2009 1A
Friends for Frimark for Mayor
Funny thing is DiPietro could write the check and still make the budget meeting. No, wait, DiPietro just donated a mailer. Watch out for more printed BS from Howard:
CrossTech Communications Inc.
111 North Jefferson Street
Chicago, IL 60661
$565.00
3/18/2009 5A
Friends for Frimark for Mayor Letters and Envelopes
CrossTech Communications Inc. 111 North Jefferson Street
Chicago, IL 60661
That's $1500 from Allegretti now. Makes you think, doesn't it?
Esmeralda can easily step into Alegretti's hardly-warm seat -- or da Mare's, for that matter. I doubt the residents would notice the difference. And besides, wouldn't it be nice to have a woman -- not more than one, mind you -- representing that 52% of the population "special interest?"
