More PRU Briefs!

1. Taste of Public Relations?

As most of our readers know, we had a guest essay not too long ago,
The Park District's Own Mr. Haney, about board president Dick Barton. It seems Mr. Barton was using his connections and political influence to promote his business.

Our pals over at the Pub-dog's put up another tasty piece of reading last Friday,
Hooray for Us? Somebody decided to ask us if we knew anything about the financials of the Taste of Park Ridge and if we'd seen the following pic --

The above is a screen capture from the http://www.bartonchicago.com/ web site. The cars in the photo on the right are from the Taste event. There is no reference to the Taste of Park Ridge on the Barton & Barton web site and the Taste is not listed as a client. But we're sure that if anybody asks why a picture from the Taste is on the Barton & Barton web site the answer would be that Mr. Barton donates a lot of his time to the Taste and nobody saw anything wrong with letting him use a photo in the promotion of his business.

As for what we know of the financial arrangements of the Taste of Park Ridge committee, the answer is we don't know anything. The Taste of Park Ridge NFP organization hasn't provided any public information on their income and expenses that we can find.

2. "Hell No! You Can't Go!"

We were recently asked by a PRU reader if we knew about a meeting held at the Park Ridge Country Club, organized by Mayor Howard to discuss problems at the Youth Campus in the 1st ward with surrounding area residents, and if we were aware that Mayor Howard hadn't even bothered to invite 1st ward Alderman Dave Schmidtzkrieg to the meeting. The answer is yes. We have heard from several sources that Mayor Howard would rather play politics than actually work with all concerned parties on a problem facing residents.

What the PRU Crew finds surprising is that anyone would find it surprising that Mayor Howard plays politics first and sees to public policy second.

3. "Clean up on aisle D2!"

Last week we told you about
Rosemary's Political Baby.

This week Rosemary's Political Baby got an address change, thanks to Mama Mulligan's filing of an amended D2 candidate disclosure form.

We can only imagine the conversation that took place on this one!

Why wasn't Ald. Schmidt invited to a meeting with his own first ward residents? That makes no sense to me!

Anonymous 1:15,

It's obvoius! Frimark views Alderman Dave as a threat to his political power and his insider deals! Frimark wants the spotlight and powr all for himself!

It is hard to even comment on Howie's latest shenannigans. He is such an embarassment to this city. What a "scoundrel," as my grandmother would say.
He doesn't deal with Ald. Schmidt because he is doing stuff under the table at his precious country club.

The Youth Campus is the Park Ridge version of Girls Gone Wild. Screaming and carrying on til all hours of the night. The neighbors have a right that our elected officials will work together to solve the problems.

Mayor Frimark, stop being a politician and start being a representative. If you can't put your pettiness behind you then you shouldn't count on the people of Park Ridge to put their trust in you.

I would guess that the Mayor wanted to take the 'bull' by the horns and address the neighbors with what PR has done. My other guess is Ald Schmidt is still looking for a private meeting to report on, try the Elks Dave.

Was the name "b. darton" not working for you Linda?

Interesting...

So, "taking the *bull* by the horns" means EXCLUDING the duly elected representative Alderman from a meeting among ward residents to discuss a problem in that Alderman's ward? Scheduling the meeting on an evening when the Public Safety Committee would be discussing safety procedures for a potential PADS shelter?

...of course, the community is well aware that the Mayor is unconcerned about safety procedures and risks to the citizens in relation to PADS...so, it does make perfect sense that he wouldn't have attended *that* Public Safety meeting...

...or, Unhappy?, were you using "bull" as a pun...

Smoke and mirror's....
all in the 1st ward too!

And good old Rosie....she
wants it all but can't give
it up either.

Its time Howie....

unhappy model--I don't understand what you are saying. Are you supporting the clown mayor and criticizing the alderman?

Is Frimark's paid political operative-mole-weasel Linda Szcepanski back??? Is she masquerading as "b. darton" or "unhappymodel"?

If Linda Ski is back, that must mean that Howard is running for re-election. Guess his real estate speculator and developer buddies haven't made enough money from the Park Ridge taxpayers yet.

Frimark denies that he's in bed/on board with Rosemary M. - its time to face it....Howie....you can't hide the truth.

She along with the rest of her crew are pro choice too.

Thank you.
The Committee To Elect A Replacement for Mayor of Park Ridge

anonymous at 6:19a.m.----I hope he DOES run for mayor again. He will get slammed into the ground with the reality of how many poeple in this town hate him.
Running for office will just show how clueless he is about what the community wants/needs.
the people around him who tell him otherwise are a supporting cast in the "Emperor's New Clothes."

anony-mouse:

From your lips to God's ear.

Howard must be listening to the same kind of people Blago's listening to...people with fat checkbooks looking for some deals.

I can't believe I voted for this guy (embarrassed to say). Why is allowed to get away with it all?

The EOP development, all the other condo developments, trying to build a new road through town, all the new stores and traffic in uptown... This is way too much change in too short a time. We need to elect a mayor that can just go with the flow for a few years without rocking the boat!

Someone asked before, but seriously, when is his term up?

Word is that a group of residents called "Former Friends of Frimark" is being organized in town which will back an alternative candidate. Membership requires only that you voted for him in '05 and are now penitent and embarassed as a result. Stay tuned.
