I hope that the PRU Crew multitudes enjoy their long weekend and return rested, refreshed and ready to blog productively into the fall.
Now that it's August, the fall election season is about to heat up. Some of the local November elections will be warmups for the local election in the spring. Immediately after the votes are counted in November, we will swing full bore into the mayoral campaign.
I am hopeful that a strong and viable candidate for mayor has been identified and has started to work. The time is now.
Since people post about anything PR releated in these thread I thought I'd post a couple of links that might be of interest.

There are no "local November elections." All "local" elections are in April, unless there's a purely "local" referendum on the ballot, like the library referendum in November 2002 and the council reduction referendum in November 2006.
Try typeing it up again only this time, type the XN as lowercase letters instead of Capital them it should work.
Sorry about that.
anon. 2:59- Who might that be? I don't know. Other posters have assured us that people are working hard behind the scenes and that someone is being lined up to run. I hope that's true, because if it isn't happening now, it's not going to happen.
anon. 4:48- By "local November elections" I meant the races for State Senator and State Representative. Both are contested, there are Park Ridge residents running, and Howard has a dog in both fights.
mike--I dont get it. what is the big deal about that video? it's weird and creepy with the background music.
From the Park Ridge Farmer's Market calendar....
Alderman Jim Allegretti (Ward 4) and Alderman Don Bach (Ward 3) will be at the Listening Post on Saturday, August 9.
So much to say, so little time.
now THAT is exciting!!!!
what will I say?
should I prepare a presentation?
a "list of grievances"?
will Allegretti even LISTEN or just give you that blank stare?
omigosh, less than a week to prepare.
m. anderson, how are regional partisan (Democrats v. Republicans) elections in November "warmups" for the local non-partisan elections in April, just because Park Ridge residents are running in them. Or is it because the two local residents are running as Democrats against two non-residents running as Republicans backed by our Republican mayor?
I'll bet you love stories about the Spanish Civil War.
My guess is that its because Howie likes to make every race a fear-mongering, us-versus-them, look-out, here come the democrats, contest, in an effort to energize the GOP faithful. And that script worked for him when he ran for alderman and mayor.
Only difference is now he has a track record as mayor . . .
