Yes, it is true. I have had a crazy night trying to pin down my 2 kids there. The dance was cancelled, students were not allowed back into the school to get their purses, coats etc. The few that had cell phones on them were very generous to let anyone use them to contact their parents. Maine South sent an automated message to parents around 10 pm letting us know what they could, and it is posted on the MS website. Maine South did a great job with this matter! I do hope the person who called 911 to report a bomb in the school will be tried with a felony offense! It is unfortunate that this had to happpen.
Leaving all of our skepticism about PADS and city government aside, the Maine South kids handled themselves very well tonight. My own, a freshman, called on a borrowed phone to let us know what was going on and actually said, "I don't tell you I love you enough." But she was being thoughtful...she wasn't particularly fearful.
This morning, she went to swim practice at 6:00 AM, then marched in the band for the parade. Let's remember that more kids are like this than whomever called in the bomb threat.
We've left these kids an ugly world, but I see signs they'll be up to the task.
And, to keep things in perspective, whomever called in the bomb scare was just another asshole, and that's not a new development in human affairs.
Maine South did do a great job. I feel bad for all the girls out on the football field in their little dresses and no shoes. I'm hoping the pickup of personal items today is handled as well.
I think the person responsible should not only be tried for a felony, but should be required to reimburse all the students, parents, school, administration and city expenses that were incurred.
I have not seen the Summit changes but my spouse tells me that it looks like the street is going to be narrower...Does anyone know what the plan is there?

Neat.
Also with The Bears playing this Sunday at Detroit, I think it's been mentioned here that Mayor Frimarks's a Packers fan.
Just what we need a Packers fan for a mayor.
the Trib is reporting a bomb threat and evacuation of Maine South. Is that true?

At least it took my mind off the Cubs.
Also what's going on with Summit Ave. near the library?
Looks like some parking spaces will be eliminated.
Why would they do that?
